Introduction

Welcome to East Bay Cohousing (EBCOHO). We're a decade-strong umbrella regional group now with over 1,000 members, the world's largest intentional communities MeetUp, providing outreach, community, and education, hosting core groups creating cohousing in the Urban East Bay, linking to the many established communities, and helping people start new ones.

Check out our events calendar, featuring regular tours (last year including an Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville walking tour, bike tours, bus and carpool tours, and open houses), education about affordable housing cooperatives and shared living, movies about community, visits from notable communitarian authors and movement leaders, workshops that can help folks get started in creating community, slide shows, community visits, field trips, and more.

We were part of a Northern California Cohousing Sustainable Communities booth at the Green Festival in SF November and participated in a Cohousing California booth at last year's Solar Living Expo, Maker Faire and more.

EBCOHO members get to hear about new communities and openings in existing ones first, so join us (it's free, but you can get event discounts, a cohousing book, and coaching with supporting membership) to get the scoop, and subscribe to our mailing list to stay informed.

Please peruse our lists of area:

If you're interested in Senior Cohousing (or intergenerational Aging In Community neighborhoods that support people in the aging process), you may be interested in a Bay Area-wide group that occasionally meets to facilitate discussions in that area... They're planning additional meetings in the East Bay, North Bay, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco, and working with The Elders' Guild on a series of workshops and gatherings. check it out!

Please use our suggestion box to suggest listings for events of core groups, tours, workshops, openings, anything of interest to people creating cohousing in the greater Berkeley-Oakland area, or nationally.
