Studio 59 (map)
A friend of ours is property manager at this place, which I've visited and found rather cohousing-like. With 3-4 units open, there's potential for folks to form a critical mass and start living in community right away, doing meals together, and the like - and to get existing residents involved -- Raines
Studio 59 is located at the junction of the cites of Oakland, Emeryville and Berkeley. The neighborhood is ideal because of its proximity to the Bay Bridge, Emeryville shopping, Downtown Oakland and UC Berkeley. Make your commute a little easier with convenient freeway access to go in any direction. Parks, restaurants (Bucci's, Town House, Ruby's Rudy's Can't Fail, Cocina Pablano and more), coffee shops (Starbucks, Peets) and major shopping all a short walk away.
Three units currently available, and another available September 15:

Werner, perhaps you could say more about why it wouldn't be suitable for cohousing? If 3-4 households interested in shared living rented the available units, you could do common dinners at each others' houses, as is common in smaller "mini-cohousing" neighborhoods, and plan activities together.
My comment was that the manager did not think it lends itself for cohousing and she lives there.
The layout is such that people would only run into each other in the hall way on the way out or to the common laundry room.
Yes, 3 parties could rent the available lofts intentionally to interact socially with each other in their respective units. That is of course possible but does not sound much like cohousing.
