Austrian Cohousing founder talk (Old Oakland)

This location is shown only to members

Please join us in welcoming to the U.S. Irmgard Kravogel, "Burning Soul" and co-founder of Lebensraum, Austria's first (and so far, only) cohousing neighborhood. See what cohousing in Europe looks like and feels like, and talk about the process of creating community there.

Lebensraum, started in 2001 and fully occupied by 2005, is an "eco-settlement" located in a rural agricultural area near Vienna. 32 homes are clustered in a car-free settlement, with extensive common facilities. Austrian government incentives led the group to build extremely energy-efficient homes; 82 people live there now, including many young children. Common dinners are held 4 times a week.

Note: Special thanks to Bonnie from Swan's for hosting us. The Swan's Market courtyard will be closed in the evening, so we will use the "back door" Common House mid-block entrance on 10th Street between Washington and Clay. Please use the link to RSVP and arrive promptly. This is a private residence, so please no smoking, pets, or service animals; wheelchair access available via elevator. Please stay in the Common House area upstairs so we don't disturb the neighbors.

Optional dutch-treat dinner/drinks beforehand starting around 6:30 PM at Pacific Coast Brewery, across Washington street (they make a mean root beer).
