The COG Cooperative Grocery (map)
EBCOHO friend Janelle Orsi, co-author of the Nolo press book The Sharing Solution that covers not just shared living options but shared buying, has invited EBCOHO members to join her this Thursday evening at the COG cooperative grocery, for a free peek, shopping as her guest at the great co-op rates (yes, you do pay for what you buy, it's not that free), and a dinner of her vegi (and some vegan) nori wraps and snacks (Janelle's treat). I know many Berkeley group houses and co-ops (as well as individuals) that are COG members, taking advantage of its bulk purchase options as well as basic retail setup, made possible in part by member labor.
I'll will be around in the first hour to help answer questions about cohousing, EBCOHO, our upcoming events, and shared living in general, plus performing quality checking on the Nori rolls ;-) -- Raines
This Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm, I have my monthly work shift at The COG - our local cooperative grocery, and I just wanted to invite anyone to come out and take a peek at the place, do some grocery shopping if you'd like, and enjoy some of my vegetarian (and often vegan) nori wraps and other snacks for dinner. The wraps are actually pretty tasty, believe it or not.
My partner Catherine and I have been enjoying our monthly work shifts and other fun events at the COG for the last year, and getting lots of cheap organic groceries too! The COG has been suffering from low cash flow lately, so inviting friends to do a little guest shopping is a way to bring in a little extra this month. I'll even let you use the nifty beeping bar code scanner thingy.
The COG is in Emeryville at 1450 67th St. (corner of Hollis, just south of Ashby off 7th). Click here to find out more about the products COG carries.
If you plan to do some shopping, please bring a checkbook, since the COG isn't set up to accept cash. You could also pay with a Google Checkout account or set one up when you visit. Or you can just come say hi and grab a bite to eat, on me!
Feel free to drop by unannounced, or if you feel like letting me know (RSVP on this page), it'll help me figure out how many hundreds of nori wraps to make.
Yes, children are welcome (there is a kids' playroom). I could give a presentation about the COG at 6:30 and again at 7:15, or give mini-tours as people arrive.
