Community Living Abroad and Afar, Cheap and Warm: Brainstorming/Discussion (SF)

Hub SoMa (map)

Selected By: Raines Cohen

Interested in building community, but frozen out by the Northern California/Bay Area housing market?

Join Hub Bay Area Founding Member/Cohousing Coach Raines Cohen and experienced international resident Linder Allen (former boardmember of the Association of Americans Resident Overseas (AARO)) for a conversation about community and the many ways to find and co-create it in various warm, stable, and affordable places, from Hawaii to France and Egypt (Linder has lived in both) and beyond, for retirement or just simple living. Together with you, we'll outline opportunities and obstacles, debunk myths and solve mysteries, and see who's interested in further exploration, socials, or learning together.

We'll also share some info on more-affordable community living opportunities in the farther reaches of Northern California, as well as ownership models (including fractional ownership) that can further reduce costs and add flexibility to your life.

Meeting is organized by East Bay Cohousing (EBCOHO); $10 per person for space rental/meeting fees ($5 for EBCOHO supporting members).

This will be our first meeting at the new Hub SOMA coworking space in the SF Chronicle building in downtown San Francisco. Please arrive promptly, as we'll have to wrap up by 6, although some folks may go out for drinks afterwards.

I was disappointed by this meetup since it felt rather disorganized. There wasn't an agenda and we seemed to be chatting more about living abroad. I didn't feel the event was worth $10.
