** NOTE NEW DATE, TIME, AND LOCATION -- WE'VE OUTGROWN CAFE LEILA ***

This group's lead organizer, Judy, writes:

Hello Everyone,

Please note that our next meeting will be on the 2nd Saturday of February, on the 11th.

At our last meeting, 18 people attended. The group had expanded through additional participants from the Brain Exchange and from Raines listing the meeting at the [EBCOHO] MeetUp site. It was exciting and wonderful, and far too many people for the Cafe Leila situation. We are extremely fortunate to have been offered the use of the community room at Oregon Park Senior Apartments.

We anticipate even more new people at this coming meeting -- great news! Because of that, we will devote some time to people getting to know each otherAlso, for those new to the group, we are pretty much a group of elders at this time. Some of us are interested in intergenerational living, and some in housing comprised of elders, only. Some are interested in sharing a house; most are interested in individual units with shared, community areas and activities.

So, until February 11, may you all be well, and may each day be an adventure.

Raines adds: This group was started by members of The Elders' Guild, which meets twice a month as listed in our Aging in Community MeetUp, but now attracts a wide audience.

There are two annoucements for thsi event going around - this one suggests its got a focus on Senior's looking for community, while the other announcement doesn't mention that.

    Anyone know which it is?

Good, warm, friendly, serious! People from four different study group/meetup groups converged. Pluses -- the people, the place, the refreshments, talking in pairs, and small group discussions. Judy was welcoming and flexible as facilitator. Deltas - We got a little rowdy over "the best" way to identify priorities for break out groups, but to me that means folks took shared leadership seriously even if flustering our facilitator and scribe a bit. Everyone was really engaged and serious - and next time I think we have a better sense of what the major subsets of community interest are. It's a challenge when a group tries to integrate different parallel efforts and different sets of expectations. It looks like some good data for next steps and subgroups will come out of the convergent processes

It was a good meeting. I'm not sure how to move forward, however, and wonder if there's a way to chart the 3-4 most important things people want so we're not left in small email groups discussing just one thing.
