Introduction

A member of Berkeley Town House (http://berkhouse....), a senior (55+) housing cooperative. My main job is running a small foundation developing a technology to permit understanding across the world's 7 thousand languages.

How did you hear about East Bay Cohousing?

From Raines Cohen.

What does Cohousing mean to you?

A hybrid between single-family, multifamily, and congregate housing.

What's most likely: Rent, Buy, Share, Build, Co-create?

All the above.

Where are you most interested in living?

Where cooperation and efficiency are both valued.

What Jonathan Pool is saying about this Meetup Group

A valuable resource. I have my doubts about its name, because what seems most important to it is something other than a particular structure, and there seems to be a vacuum in the rest of the intentional-community space, so it would perhaps make sense to generalize the name and thus better reflect the true mission. One person has reported to me that "cohousing" is understood throughout one cooperative as synonymous with "commune" and thus as something to be dreaded. That may be an exaggeration, but to the extent it is true it may signify that as a brand it doesn't connote reassuring eclecticism and tolerance for diverse communitarian aspirations.
