168 Meetups
I chose community development as my life's work in my 20's. The Meetup lets me share, learn, and create ways to help people connect and make their dreams real.
Raines Cohen in 1999.
Friendly neighbors, a great place to live with more space than I could afford on my own. Opportunities to share -- launchpads for sustainable living.
I currently live in Berkeley Cohousing.
with diverse neighbors rejoicing in one another's creative passions and livelihood.
"Planning for Sustainable Communities is my business - we help people find, organize, grow, and sustain cohousing neighborhoods."
We're trying to be a hub for community connections, a networking forum for shared living resources of all sorts: cohousing, co-ops, EcoVillages, group houses -- you name it. We bring in guest speakers, do slide shows and movie nights, and highlight openings in existing communities, but the #1 thing people are most looking for is other people on the same journey, to learn from each other and go down the path together. Come, learn, explore, and get the support you need.

can you tell me which other communities you visited and how i can get a hold of them. i'd appreciate it . thanks.
Thanks Betsy, I appreciate your note. I am certainly interested in child friendly pagan sustainable housing, but work on Saturday mornings so will be unable to make this weekend's event.
Thanks Betsy - I appreciate that. Let me know what your weekend schedule looks like and if all comes together, perhaps we can eek a meeting out. I look forward to meeting you and fellow EBCOHOrts. Have a fantastic rest of the week.
Small but very nice group of people (and good food)! As you probably guessed, I'm there mostly for informational purposes: want to see what a cohousing core group is looking for and how they're doing it. Jennifer in particular took me under her wing and brought me up to date. May go to their game night.
Hi Betsy. Thank you for the welcome! It's unlikely that I'll be able to make it to Chuck's talk on Tuesday......I'
ll have an out-of-town guest, and it's difficult to travel from Pacifica to the East Bay for a weeknight event (rush hour and the Bay Bridge and all that). But I could surprise myself and you and manage to make it! If not this time, then soon. Bonnie
I just checked out Montery's website & its not far from where I'm currently living. Im hoping to find and available room, or build a community with others, but I'm wondering if open rooms are posted online? I just talked to someone on the phone who say my post and they mentioned it would be easier to find something once I'm there & that there are more options in the Oakland and Emeryville due to Berkeley having such a low turn over. If you have any advice & suggestions I wouldappreciate
it!
Hi Betty! I am in the process of developing a cooperative eatery in Oakland! It would be great to meet you!
Hello Betsy, My name is Jasmine Moon (a tribal given name), a change agent and I am inspired to begin a movement/projec
t/organization which acknowledges the earth charter and social responsibility.
Along with the mission of Altrupreneurs, I am seeking like-minded persons who would like to help forward this vision.
Cheers,
Hello Betsy,
I wanted to say hello! I recently opened a coworking space in Berkeley. I wanted to introduce myself so we can stay in touch :)
thanks Betsy, I figured I might as well put it out there. I might change it to earlier in the day since it is "date night" for some.
