Hi! I'm an arborist and permaculture designer and musician and copy editor in Berkeley. I live in a limited-equity housing cooperative (LEHC) that I co-founded in 1996.

What does Cohousing mean to you?

Cohousing means "lower-cost community-centric condo" to me. Like a regular condo, but with shared meals & childcare for less money.

What's most likely: Rent, Buy, Share, Build, Co-create?

Staying in my LEHC until I find a partner, then move into cohousing together.

Where are you most interested in living?

In a permaculture-based community.

I saw different kinds of people at the cohousing talk. There were those who feel affinity with the idea, and those who are actually involved with cohousing in some way, and many with overlapping interests. Some of us live in other unusual housing arrangements, or were just curious—again with overlap. Maybe if cohousing bores you then you shouldn't come.
