This meeting is intended to bring together people with similar visions of more
cooperative and
ecologically sustainable neighborhoods in San Francisco. The organizer, EBCOHO member
Kelly, is hoping to find people who want to discuss creating a
Backyard Neighborhood and School in San Francisco, preferably with many
permaculture aspects, but other attendees may wish to discuss other San Francisco
cohousing and
EcoVillage possibilities, such as
senior cohousing or a
green co-op with rental units modeled after
L.A. Ecovillage.
This will be an
open-space format meeting: Attendees with particular interests or information will announce subjects that will be open for discussion in various areas of the room, and then everyone will move to the areas where discussions that interest them are occurring. For each group, if someone will write down highlights of the discussion, Kelly will email the highlights to the people who request them. She will also have forms with optional survey questions about the attendees' community visions and preferences, which could be used to help bring together people who might want to start an
intentional neighborhood together.
If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to be sent highlights of it, just RSVP "No" to this event and include your contact info on the second page.
The meeting is
free but we will pass the hat for donations for the space. For general questions about the meeting or concept, post them as comments on this event or the announcement on Kelly's blog.

If you'd like to see EcoVillages all around the world without leaving San Francisco, don't miss EcoVillage News publisher Diana Leafe Christian's slide show this Thursday evening at the Commonwealth Club downtown:
RSVP here. And to learn how to create your own, don't miss Diana's weekend intensive workshop in Berkeley:

shovel-ready cohousing seeking investors and founding members (
just 12 minutes on BART from downtown SF and extremely affordable compared to most SF homes), as well as the East Bay Cohousing Crawl
walking tour Sunday ending up at a potential '
Instant Cohousing' existing-building apartment in North Oakland near Piedmont Ave. with seller financing, and openings at several area collectives, co-ops, and group houses, not to mention a home for sale nextdoor to Berkeley Cohousing. See the full calendar at
