Mariposa Grove is a retrofit cohousing neighborhood focused on creativity & social change in North Oakland. It links four adjacent buildings on 59th and 60th streets (near MLK) - three containing condos, and one multi-family house with Associate Members. NEW 1/26/2010: The adjacent Willow House (free EBCOHO login required) is up for a rush short sale at an incredible price.
Mariposa Grove has shared space for many meals, creative pursuits and collaborations, office space, workshop, gardens, etc. The community spirit has a strong element of D-I-Y: Folks get together and do things themselves, contribute work to keep dues affordable, and work with what there is.
All of the core Mariposa Grove homes are permanently affordable, limited-equity condominiums on land owned by the Northern California Land Trust (NCLT).
