Milvia House

We had a room available July 15th in our semi-cooperative home in North Berkeley - read about it below.

Us: There are five people total who live in the house – four people in the main house and one person in the back cottage. Our intention is to maintain good communication, balance individuality with communal living and create a space that feels like a home. There are three women and one man right now.

We have a semi-communal kitchen/shopping list, get a veggie box each week, divide up house chores, have a cleaning schedule that keeps the house looking great, share utilities and wireless internet service. We have the occasional house meeting and strive to maintain good communication in between in. We keep reasonable hours in the common areas to accommodate work schedules and an old house whose walls aren’t as thick as we’d sometimes like them to be.

The room: The room ($490/month) is downstairs, toward the front of the house. It measures 11x11 and has two big windows that let in lots of natural light. It’s got a small walk-in closet and shares the downstairs bathroom with two other people.

Our house: The house is an old, 1916 craftsman with great wood detailing. We’ve got a large kitchen with a gas stove, a large living room and a beautiful dining room with a fireplace. We’ve got a small front yard and a backyard as well. The house is located on Milvia Street at Francisco and it’s a short 10-15 min walk to the downtown Berkeley BART station. We’ve got a driveway, but street parking is easy and everything is walk-able.

We are a pet-free, no-smoking house. There is no washer/dryer, but we do have a good clothesline out back and the Laundromat is close by.

You: If you are responsible, communicative, and home is an important place for you, please email and tell us a bit about yourself. We'd love to meet and show you the place.

We were looking for someone to move in around July 15th.

Contact us at themilviahouse@yahoo.com for more info.

We conducted informal interviews on Wednesday, July 8th and Friday, July 10 in the evening.

If you are interested please email us and tell us about yourself, why you’re interested in house, which night you could come by and the best way to get ahold of you.
