We know we’re not the only game in town

And we’re glad, because there’s no way we can do it all ourselves!

Here’s where we list events organized by our partners, such as:

  • East Bay Permaculture Guild
  • Other regional and national cohousing groups
  • Global EcoVillage Network
  • Sustainable Economies Law Center
  • Gray Panthers of Berkeley and the East Bay

Your related events could be here too. Ask us about how to work with East Bay Cohousing.

  • Yes, And:Cooperatives Building Community

Cooperatives have a rich history in the landscape of the community housing movement.YES, AND. A virtual event series exploring strategies that intersect with cohousing in pursuit of a more cooperative society Cooperatives as a tool for Inclusive Communities

This session will explore different types of cooperative housing, provide examples of co-ownership as a means to create small-scale communities, and showcase new and existing communities that are integrating cooperatives into their plans.

Join us for an interactive conversation designed to spark creative solutions around shared resources and community housing.

Part of the "Yes, And..." series of the Cohousing Institute, run by the National Cohousing Association (CohoUS): A virtual event series exploring strategies
that intersect with cohousing in pursuit of a more cooperative society.

Cohousing Open network notes: While most US cohousing neighborhoods are set up as condominiums, we are part of a larger movement building cooperative culture, including some housing cooperatives. Some in the latter movement may forget that cooperative is an adjective, not just a noun. They may or may not have shared meals and shared spaces, although democratic resident leadership is a key feature.

    About the Speaker

Sarah Wells is passionate about empowering people and businesses through ownership.

She enthusiastically jumped into real estate after she and her partner found a 5,000-square-foot house in Capitol Hill (Denver, Colorado), recruited members, and together transformed it into the democratically-run and cooperatively-owned Queen City Cooperative.

Her previous background includes nonprofit and sustainability as well as marketing and community relations, so it’s no surprise that she loves enfranchising artists, activists, and entrepreneurs through property ownership.

Considered an expert in collective living, co-buying, and a champion for housing innovation, Sarah thrives in finding creative solutions and spaces for all.
