Affordable Housing Month

Affordable Housing Month in the East Bay

East Bay Cohousing is proud to once again be a participant and partner in Affordable Housing Month, organized by East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO), of which we are a longtime member.

East Bay Housing OrganizationsEvery May, EBHO calls attention to projects around the East Bay that include below-market housing, including:

  • Dedicated affordable housing projects, both intergenerational and for seniors
  • Community Land Trust-based permanently-affordable projects, some including homeownership.
  • Limited-Equity Housing Coops (LEHCs)
  • Alternative building and finance models
  • Cohousing that (like most in the East Bay) includes affordable homes

We're delighted to offer some cohousing-specific events this year, and call attention to others that we think are in related areas and/or of interest to our members.

Come back to this page as the list grows once the official Affordable Housing Month calendar is published.

Come see what it looks like to live in cohousing neighborhoods in the East Bay:

    • See how they blend privacy and community, with individual homes plus a Common House.
    • Get a taste of what it's like to dine together, with regular common meals.
    • Learn about each community's unique design, how it came together, and the innovative approaches to affordability, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability each embodies.
    • Find out how to learn about future openings in these communities and new ones in formation in the area and beyond.

Affordable Housing Month 2025Free and open to all; individual communities may have refreshments for sale or other opportunities to support them or their members work.
