Rooted & Resilient: Bay Area Community Land Trust gala (S. Berkeley, in-person)

Rooted & Resilient: BACLT gala dinnerWe're delighted to be supporting our ally, the Bay Area Community Land Trust (BACLT) at their annual Community Gala "Rooted & Resilient" in South Berkeley, and welcome members to join us at our East Bay Cohousing table there.

This is "A community celebration to nourish one another and deepen our roots."

Community Land Trusts (CLTs) can help make cohousing more affordable by providing the finance and technical assistance for existing residents or a new group to acquire and hold a building or land, reducing the amount they have to finance to just the cost of the buildings.

BACLT has been a growing innovative grassroots community-building organization, working with us to help rebuild the network of cooperative communities in the East Bay and beyond.

Note that we have already paid for our table, so you need to pay EBCOHO directly to save your seat with us.

Bay Area Community Land Trust logoEvent info from BACLT:

Join us for a joyful evening of music, food, and celebration as we honor the relationships, resistance, and community care that keep us grounded in the face of housing injustice.

This year’s theme, Rooted and Resilient, speaks to the strength and solidarity that hold us together. As Audre Lorde reminded us, “Without community, there is no liberation.” In this moment—when the highest levels of government threaten the safety and dignity of our communities—we believe even more deeply in the need to gather, celebrate, and organize. We are all we’ve got, and we are more than enough.Artwork by Anavictoria Avila: https://www.artedeavi.com

Auction & raffle items in previous years have included: gift cards to Alkali Rye, Lucia's, Cheeseboard Collective, The Hidden Cafe, Kitchen on Fire, Everett & Jones Barbeque; plants and housewares; original artwork; and more!

Based in Berkeley and Oakland, BACLT is a social justice organization that converts for-profit rental properties into permanently affordable, democratically run, cooperative housing for lower income households in order to foster economic and racial equity. Our vision is a community where everyone, regardless of background, finds not just housing, but a lasting home defined by affordability, safety, and joy.
